NE BRAZIL

The most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the world

The north east region of Brazil is a beautiful place with untouched, deserted beaches yet great biodiversity. It has good weather all year round with an average annual temperature of 27°C (and a regular sea breeze) as it's close to the equator. Wind direction is cross/cross on shore with some places cross off shore. North East Brazil's weather is generally tropical, with dry winters and humid summers due to the hot sun, therefore strong sunscreen and rash vests are advised to be worn.
The rainy season runs from February to May with a wind speed of around 12 to 20 knots. The dry season runs from June to January and the wind speed is 20 to 35 knots - but in theory the wind gets stronger the further up coast you go. The sun rises first in the whole Americas.
There is an array of activities for non-kitesurfers, such as horse riding, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, wildlife spotting to name just a few. It takes only 8 hours to fly from Europe, with daily direct flights from the main European cities. With water temperature around 26ºC all year round, constant wind and over 300 sunny days a year the NE brazil is a perfect place to visit for a kitesurfer.

This is a completely different downwinder, you will have to go out as far as you can due to the wind shadow (is a bit gusty), the views of the Port, Beira Mar Market and the Mountains are amazing. The downwind is done with a boat rescue up to Tabuba Lagoon.

This can be divided in 2 downwinds. Big waves at Pecem, then flat with waves and some ramps with 3 bays which are absolutely flat. Also good for swimmers at low tide. Launching from the Port Pecem the wind can be a little gusty but if the swell is right there are some big clean waves.
The best time tide going back to lower, obstacles are fishsticks and rocks near the pier. As the beach finishes near Colonia, the vehicles will drive through the town, but the kitesurfers can carry on and meet them in Taiba. Here we'll take a break, then continue to Paracuru, There are no obstacles until The Windmills where the the rocks and fish pools start to appear, at low tides.

Lagoinha is a beautiful place, the town sits on top of a cliff and has a huge bay. There are some rocks right at the beginning then after 3.5km there is the 1st tidal lagoon called Lagoa Do Jegue. It is a tidal so at high tide became a massive lagoon but changes every year.
After another 5k there is another lagoon called Barra Do Trairi. If it's full the vehicles will have to cross in a raft, at high tide you can kite direct from the sea to the lagoon which is butterflat , it is impossible to follow by car at high tide. Upon arrival at Flexeiras, kitesurfers need to be aware of the fish sticks and the wind shadow.

There are two big bays in Flexeiras. At low tide there are fish poles, and rocks. After 4km we will reach Emboaca, then it's flat with waves at the back all the way to Mundau. The best time to arrive is when tide is going back. You can kitesurf down the river mouth where the sunset here is amazing.
This is one of the best places for kiting.

This is the longest downwinder and only good at low tide. There are many rocks on the way, and is achievable only if there's enough time. If not it's best to be avoided and drive directly to Icaraizinho De Amontada.

This is a really nice downwind best done at low tide. The water is a bit choppy but there are few lagoons on way, there is the turtle sanctuary called Projeto Tamar, and a native Indian tribe we can visit. Further down there is a little island where our support team will be waiting the group for BBQ with fresh lobster (if in season) and the catch of the day.

This is a very tricky place to kite. You will either love it or you hate it; as you launch near the dune the wind is gusty and off shore. As you kite along the bay the wind changes direction. The kitesurfing near the river is really nice at low tide with flat water and small ramps.

This is best at low tide as it's difficult to drive on the beach, the water is flat with very small waves that can easily turn up into to ramps for massive jumps. The wind here can be very strong and gusty.
